Kojo Kay was born in Brooklyn NY, he grew up in Vancouver BC, and now resides in Seattle Washington. He fell in love with music while growing up in Vancouver and living in Seattle when he realized it was not only helping him manage his anxiety and depression, but was helping others as well when they listened to his music. This is because "the artist is absolutely vulnerable" and "simply not scared to show off the emotions" according to blog Deathordesire. Determined to break into the industry Kojo Kay has worked hard to build relations with various A&R's of different labels (such as Columbia & Universal) who ultimately gave him feedback on his growth strategy, image, and sound which set up the success for his single "MY MIND" which reached over 55k streams on SoundCloud and over 10k Streams on Spotify all organically through both word of mouth and social media reposts. Following that success, Kojo was setup to open for larger artists performing both his popular releases as well as many songs from his vast unreleased albums' catalogue. Now Kojo has plans to bring the PNW community together as he headlines his own album release show to debut his first project at the end of this year. The sky is the limit for Kojo Kay as he continues to have yet another massive year following his music debut.
"Kojo poured his heart and soul into this song that captures the feelings felt when escaping a comfortable but negative relationship due to the realization that it has become aversive and toxic." - Jeshua Frees of 888 REC
Kojo blended relatable emotive lyrics with unique melodically pleasing beats & a hook that is sure to be stuck in one's MIND while working alongside producer Vertigoo & Will Enviyon (the mixing engineer behind JuiceWRLD's smash hit Lucid Dreams) to bring this energetic & emotional track to life.
"Silence Miranda" encapsulates the aftermath of a heartbreak from the perspective of an anxious mind questioning how things ended up falling apart. With help from 4X RIAA Engineer Brennen Charles and 888 Rec, Kojo aims to represent both the past and present of black culture in the industry.
